Finally, after 2 weather delays by mother nature, a small group of D15 Halton Hikers were able to gather at the Cherry Hill Gate trail situated at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario.  April 9th was a beautiful sunny day with a bit of a cool breeze but the hike quickly warmed us up as we trekked along the Grindstone Marshes Boardwalk to the open waters and then back again to the Bridal Trail Loop before returning to the parking lot.  During the hour and a half hike we saw many birds but the highlights were the swans, nesting geese (can you find them in the one picture?) and an osprey soaring overhead.

It is our hope to run monthly D15 Halton Hikes from September to June during the first week of each month.  The “rain day” would be a week later.  We will also alternate between Wednesdays and Thursdays for flexibility of schedules.  Therefore,  our next 2 hikes will be as follows:

Thursday May 8th at 1pm – Bronte Creek Provincial Park

* rain date May 15th at 1pm

Wednesday June 4th at 1pm – TBD

* rain date June 11th at 1pm
